Stream, East Ridge and Canyon Trail Loop | Oakland
A hidden redwood forest, just 15 minutes from Oakland, is the setting for a fantastic nature trail that's perfect for a quick jaunt. The partially paved path winds its way through Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park, and its width allows for six-foot distancing when passing others. The trail's gradual 800-foot climb is doable for most, and with the first half being shaded, it's a comfortable hike. The second half offers exposed vistas from the East Ridge, making it worth the effort. On a hot day, consider reversing the trail to take advantage of the shade in the latter half.

Located in Sunol Wilderness Regional Preserve, this trail offers a gentle uphill incline on a gravel path - just enough of a challenge without breaking a sweat. However, be sure to pack sunscreen and a hat, as there's no shade available. If you're visiting Fremont for the day or looking for a campground, it's well worth a visit.
